This beautiful new home was designed by by Fearon Hay and is situated within a mature chestnut orchard on Domain Road within the Wakatipu Basin.
Fearon and Hay have described the design as "a collection of agricultural-shed forms, centred around an arrival courtyard opening up towards the mountain range views".
The 409m2 floor plan is split into three distinct pods each with a defined purpose. The central pod contains the main house and includes the kitchen, dining and living area and snug with linkage to master bedroom, guest bedroom, shared bathroom and mudroom. The second pod contains the guest suite and includes a garden room with kitchenette and bedroom (with ensuite). Finally, the third pod contains the garage, plantroom, and pottery studio. These pods are linked by small areas of flat roofs.
Exterior living spaces include a sunken seating area, pool and spa area and several terraced areas.
Key exterior elements of the clever design include high monopitch roof forms with generous sections of (north-facing) glazing, zinc corrugate metal cladding, sliding perforated metal shutters, timber window joinery, concrete entry courtyard walls and aluminum retractable external vented blinds. Internal materials include a combination of oak, concrete panels and limestone.
